Headshots and Acting Portfolios

at the Niles McKinley Memorial Library & Mill Creek Metropark Farms

My first ever actual photoshoot! WOWZA. Shortly after deciding I was going to follow the path to become a photographer, I called up my dear former students and asked them if they would model for me for a day. I was so happy to hear that they were willing to give me a shot.

So, we met at the McKinley Memorial Library, which is a location I absolutely adore. The white and grey columns outside of the library look so historic and photograph beautifully. The place makes you feel so small in comparison to the structure. It is nearly impossible to get a bad photo in this location.

Adrianna and Genna are both actresses, so the goal was to get both of them a beautiful headshot to use at their upcoming auditions. However, we managed to get other photos of them to potentially use for their acting and modeling portfolios. Keep those acting and modeling portfolios updated with current photos. That's important!

Again, the photos came out beautifully here due to the nature of the creamy white and grey tones. It makes it so easy for the subject to stand out. Especially while wearing a pop of color!

After, we drove out to Mill Creek MetroParks Farm. This is my absolute favorite place to photograph because it is hard to find a time when it is not absolutely stunning. There are corn fields, a small pond, trees, flowers, tall grass, a barn, etc. You can pretty much photograph any type of photoshoot here.

This was Genna's location choice because she wanted some photos with the beautiful sunflowers. Yes, they even have a sunflower patch! NOTE: Sunflowers bloom in August and only last a week or two before they start getting droopy! So, if you want a photoshoot in the sunflowers, be sure to schedule your session with your photographer at their peak bloom.

I was so pleased with the beautiful yellows, greens and blues in this location. So bright and happy! The colors and flowers really matched the free and fun spirit she had during our session that day.

Special thanks to Adrianna and Genna for a beautiful day and fun way to catch up!

What are some of your favorite summer photoshoot ideas? I'd love to hear them!
